The new series will star Willie Nelson and Willy Nelson’s son, Dwayne.
It is set to be produced by Nelson and his brother-in-law, Chris Nelson.
Willie, who is also starring on the new HBO show “The Bachelor,” is also the co-executive producer of the NBC comedy “The New Normal,” starring the “Modern Family” cast and newbies Kimmy Schmidt, Nicki Minaj and John Oliver.
Will and Will’s brother, D.J., have also starred on “The Daily Show.”
A spokesperson for “The Willies” said the project is still in the early stages.
The network has not confirmed whether or not the new series is an adaptation of the film “The Great Gatsby,” which was a hit in 1965.
Willies’ “The Last Temptation of Christ” (1967) won two Oscars, including Best Picture for “A Few Good Men,” but he was best known for his hit song, “Good Time,” which he sang at a concert in 1969.
The Willys have been on the cover of Time magazine twice, and they are also a frequent guest on the Tonight Show and other talk shows.
